We have worked with NHS Property Services to implement a vehicle tracking solution on 76 of their vehicles.
NHS Property Services is a government-owned company which exists to help the NHS get the most from its estate and ensure that it is consistently fit for purpose so that healthcare professionals can deliver excellent patient care. Their portfolio is one of the largest in the UK, comprising more than 3,000 properties with 7,000 tenants across England. At a total value of more than £3bn, this represents about 10% of the total NHS estate. Properties range from listed buildings through to state-of-the-art integrated health campuses.
The Key Objective
Lewis Taylor, Senior Facilities Services Manager, wanted to improve visibility of his field based team members to aid work order allocation and management, and the ability to monitor driver behaviour. Looking at tracking technology was a new approach, with no pre-existing solution in place.
Working With Foresolutions
Lewis chose to work with Foresolutions due to the platform being extremely user friendly, the costs being competitive, and the availability of user support.
Meeting The Brief
With a combination of hard-wired and self-installed tracking devices, the management teams across Wiltshire, Devon & Cornwall have now been utilising a low-cost GPS tracking solution provided by Foresolutions for the last three years.
Install/Roll Out
A phased roll out has taken place across the South West region over the last 3-4 years. With a combination of hard wired devices installed by Foresolutions, and plug and go trackers installed locally by the on site facilities teams.
Sites, Divisions & Users
The solution is across multiple sites in the region and has a total of 19 users from a team management perspective.
Features & Benefits of the System
The system itself is accessible via desktop or mobile device and is used widely by the facilities management and operation support teams. Whilst the system itself provides a wide range of data, the team commonly use the system to monitor current location of their vehicles. This enables efficient work order allocation and management, validation of start/finish times, detailed trip information and monitoring of driver behaviour. The primary benefits of the system have been to provide improved visibility of the field-based team members, greater operational efficiency and reduced vehicle running costs.
Client Outcome
- More efficient work order management
- Improved driver behaviour
- Slicker operation
- Improved visibility for management
- Overall cost saving for the NHS through greater efficiencies
